Cork City's assistant manager David Meyler has left the club to take up a new position with the Hull City U21 team. Meyler was previously involved with Hull at U15 level before he was appointed as U18 assistant manager for the 2024/25 season. He then worked with Ireland's underage international teams before joining Cork City to work with former manager Ger Nash, who left the club in November 2025. Meyler was part of Barry Robson's coaching staff up until this week, working as his assistant coach. Meanwhile, Cork City have confirmed that Donal O'Connor has signed a contract extension with the club, to the end of the 2029 season. The central defender made his first team debut against Treaty United at the end of May. Donal O'Connor said he's absolutely buzzing and proud to have signed this new contract. Cork City manager Barry Robson commented on the news, saying they are really pleased that Donal has signed a new contract. Robson added that O'Connor has been in and around the first team picture for the last few months and has come into the side over the last few weeks and done very well. Now that he has finished school, this is an opportunity for him to come in with us on a full-time basis. O'Connor still has a lot to learn, but he is a player with a lot of potential and they are really pleased that he has committed to the club. Hull will begin their life in the Premier League against Manchester United at home at the end of August. Barry Robson's coaching staff will now need to adjust to the loss of David Meyler. Donal O'Connor's contract extension is a positive move for the club, as they look to build on their recent performances. The club's fans will be hoping that O'Connor can continue to develop and become a key player for the team. Cork City's next match will be an important one, as they look to bounce back from the loss of their assistant manager.
