Cork City FC is running its first-ever as Gaeilge summer camp, offering a unique opportunity for kids to learn Irish while playing football.

What's the camp about?

The camp, aimed at boys and girls aged 5 to 13, will take place at the Bishopstown Training Ground from July 7th to 9th, with sessions running from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

The club has expanded its summer camp offering to cope with record demand, with more locations, sessions, and variety than ever, including girls-only camps and performance camps.

Why is it important for Cork City?

Behind the scenes, organisers say the Irish-language camp is about more than football skills - it's about helping young players associate Gaeilge with something active, social, and enjoyable.

Erika Ní Thuama, Cork City FC Community and Academy Coordinator, said the idea is to create a fun space where children can learn naturally through play, while also building friendships and confidence on the pitch.

What comes next?

The camps are part of a wider push by the club to grow participation across all levels, with a standout 292% increase in girls' bookings already recorded this year.
