Former Cork City player George O’Callaghan is set to be sentenced for stealing €23,645 from a fitness centre. He pleaded guilty to the charge in February.

What happened?

O’Callaghan, 46, stole the money from Holohan Fitness Ltd between August 1st, 2020, and December 23rd, 2021. He had addiction issues at the time of the offence.

Background

O’Callaghan played for Cork City from 2002 to 2007 and had a career spanning several clubs, including Ipswich Town and Dundalk. He also managed Sabah in the Malaysia Premier League from 2014 to 2015.
