Cork City are 20 points clear at the top of the First Division and look set to return to the Premier Division after relegation last year, but they face a tough test in the FAI Cup third round against UCD, who have been in impressive form this season. The Students have hammered the league leaders 5-2 three weeks ago in their most impressive result of the season and are coming off the back of a 4-1 home win over Wexford. UCD's thirteen league wins is more than every other side in the First Division bar Cork City. Their 46 goals scored is, too, only bettered by Cork and Bray Wanderers. Coupling that firepower with the league's second-best defence, Willie O'Connor's side are desperate to end their three-season hiatus from the top flight. Cork City are currently 1st in the First Division with 63 points, 20 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses from 27 games, and have recently been on a 3-game winning run. They are 20 points clear of Bray Wanderers at the top of the table. Their last result was a 3-1 win over Kerry on August 7th. The Students will be hopeful for a big cup upset, while City will hope to make it ten wins in a row over UCD with victory. A spot in the last eight awaits, with the winner potentially two games away from a cup final in the Aviva.
